Since its inception in 2008 by a Royal Decree, Bahrain Polytechnic has worked to implement a number of key initiatives that have supported raising economic competitiveness, increasing productivity and creating a skilled workforce in Bahrain.

Bahrain Polytechnic is considered as a pioneer institute in the region in delivering applied, professional and technical qualifications by adopting a model of work integrated learning and the Problem-based Learning teaching and learning philosophy. The Polytechnic works closely with its local, regional, and international industry partners in order to deliver programmes that are fit for purpose, as well as conduct seminars, events, and competitions that help students become innovative.

Bahrain Polytechnic has a strong history and commitment to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) courses and in developing skills in this field. Previous initiatives include the creation of the popular Alternative Dispute Resolution elective, in- house negotiation training courses for staff and students and the consecutive participation of students in the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition, Paris, where students were the only representatives from the Gulf region and were nominated for several awards including best negotiation skills.

Most notably, the Polytechnic launched the first Negotiation Competition in 2018, which proved to be an overwhelming success with all students providing positive feedback on their experience and new life-long skills learnt in the process. The competition brought together students and renowned industry experts (both locally and internationally) from the legal and business sector sharing their expertise and support through their participation as competition judges or in the design of competition material to ensure relevance and constructive alignment with international standards.
